Artificial turf is a synthetic lawn made to look and feel like real grass. Today's turf is nothing like the plastic carpet of years past. It uses multiple blade shapes and colors, plus a soft brown "thatch" layer at the base, so it looks like a healthy, natural lawn up close. It sits on a compacted, draining base, so rain and pet messes flow straight through instead of pooling. The result is a lawn that stays green, soft, and even every day of the year with almost no maintenance.

Not all turf is made for 100 degree summers. Here's what we look for in every product we install:

• UV protected fibers. Texas sun breaks down cheap turf fast. We use turf with UV stabilized blades that resist fading, so your lawn stays green year after year.

• Polyethylene blades. Polyethylene is the most common material for residential turf because it feels soft underfoot and looks the most natural. Nylon is tougher and is often used for putting greens and high traffic areas.

• Cooling technology. Some turf is built with heat reflective fibers designed to stay cooler in direct sun. Ask us about cooler options for yards that get full afternoon sun.

• Strong drainage. Quality turf has a perforated or fully permeable backing so water drains quickly after heavy rain. That matters on North Texas clay soil.

• The right infill. Infill weighs the turf down, keeps the blades standing up, and protects the backing. We match infill to how you'll use the space:

  • Silica sand for standard lawns

  • Coated sand for a cleaner, more durable fill

  • Zeolite or antimicrobial infill for pet areas to help control odor
